About the Human Resource Management Diploma Program

In HR, you’re often the bridge between people and performance — sitting at the table where decisions about talent, policy, and workplace strategy are made.

One day, you might be coordinating a recruitment campaign. The next, reviewing workplace policies, analyzing compensation data, supporting a performance conversation, or helping implement a training initiative. The work is structured, strategic, and directly connected to how an organization operates.

Course Overview

At Trillium College, our 30-week Human Resource Management Program is designed to prepare you for that reality. You’ll build practical skills across recruitment and selection, compensation and payroll, training and development, labour relations, health and safety, and HR planning.

Delivered through live, instructor-led virtual classes, the program combines structured learning with real-world application — so you graduate ready to take on meaningful HR responsibilities, not just observe from the sidelines.

Human Resource Managemet FAQs

The Human Resource Management Diploma is a 30-week program designed to give you a strong foundation in both the operational and strategic aspects of HR.

You’ll gain practical knowledge in recruitment, compensation, employee relations, health and safety, and workforce planning — preparing you to pursue HR roles across a range of industries.

This diploma is designed to prepare you for early-career roles in Human Resources. Graduates commonly pursue positions such as Human Resources Coordinator, HR Assistant, Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Payroll and Benefits Administrator, Health and Safety Coordinator, or HR Generalist.

In these roles, you may support recruitment and onboarding, assist with payroll and benefits, maintain employee records, coordinate training initiatives, and help ensure workplace policies and compliance standards are followed.

It lays the groundwork for long-term growth in Human Resources, giving you the knowledge base required to develop professionally within the field.

No prior HR experience or degree is required. You’ll need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Mature Student Status. From there, the program builds foundational HR knowledge and practical skills step by step, preparing you for entry-level roles in the field.

The program builds foundational knowledge in key HR functions that align with professional HR practice in Canada. However, completion of the diploma does not automatically qualify graduates to write the CHRP designation exam. Eligibility for certification is determined by the governing body and may require additional education or coursework.

It’s also important to note that a professional designation is not required to begin working in many entry-level HR roles. This program is designed to help you enter the field and start building practical experience, whether or not you choose to pursue certification later.

The program builds the foundational knowledge and professional judgment needed to grow into leadership over time.

You’ll learn how HR strategies are developed and implemented, how workplace policies connect to business objectives, and how to navigate employee relations with structure and fairness. You’ll also explore how HR supports performance, compliance, and organizational planning.

While this diploma prepares you for entry-level roles, it also helps you understand the broader strategic context of HR, positioning you to take on greater responsibility as you gain experience in the field.

A common first step is gaining formal training in core HR functions. Enrolling in a Human Resource Management Diploma program, like the one at Trillium College, gives you structured knowledge in recruitment, compensation, employee relations, compliance, and workplace policies — along with an understanding of how these functions connect inside an organization.

From there, you can pursue entry-level HR roles and begin building hands-on experience in the field.

The best first step is to connect with a Career Coach. They can answer your questions, walk you through the program, and help you determine if the Human Resource course is the right path for you.
