Intra Oral Dental Assisting
Diploma Program (50 Weeks)
Program Summary
This comprehensive program involves hands-on and theoretical training in operative dentistry, lab procedures and dental radiology. In addition, anatomy, nutrition, microbiology, pharmacology, and oral pathology are examined. Classroom training is followed by a required clinical experience. Under the direction of a dentist, graduates may polish teeth, apply fluoride treatments, place pit and fissure sealants, apply topical anesthetic, apply over the counter whitening (bleaching) agents and much more. Graduates have the skills/prerequisites to apply to write the National Dental Assisting Examination Board Certification exam.
Employment Opportunities
A dental Chairside Assistant graduate can apply for positions in general dentistry or with an endodontist, a periodontist, a prosthodontist and an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Positions in dental sales or dental distribution or manufacturing can also prove to be rewarding. Other graduates can find themselves employed in dental laboratories.
